As a guest\u00a0speaker at the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iabc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IABC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0World Conference in San Francisco, Andy highlighted findings from his company\u2019s econometric study of company intranets. In partnership with the<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldwideintranetchallenge.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Worldwide Intranet Challenge<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (WIC), Enterprise Strategies applied econometric principles to the results of over 200 intranet surveys and statistically pinpointed which intranet attributes most impact a user\u2019s perception of their intranet. Many of us have heard in meetings, read in blogs, and heard from software companies \u201cintranets are dead.\u201d This simply is not true. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intranets are quite alive. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our study shows that employees materially value <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">basic functions<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that intranets provide. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Confirming the Intranet Basics <\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With 99% confidence, the study determined the more often employees use their <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/enterprisestrategies.com\/what-your-employees-want-from-your-intranet\/\" target=\"_blank\">intranet<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to do these three things, the higher their overall valuation of their intranet: <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">&#8211;<\/span>Complete forms <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">&#8211;<\/span>Upload and download documents<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 90px;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">&#8211;<\/span>Find instructions for completing work tasks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only were all the above features vital to a positive rating, but when benchmarking intranets against each other, those that have the social collaboration features benchmark higher than those that do not. With 94% confidence, the study determined that the more often employees use the intranet to provide feedback or comments about content, the higher their overall valuation it. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No, the intranet is not going anywhere<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Employees will depend on it for basic functions \u2013 regardless of the technology.
